Nov. 19, 2018: My eBay Notebook; page 3
eBay tip for today (things I'm learning on my eBay journey): Figuring your eBay FVF (final value fees). I am only talking about FVF here. There are others I will cover later, like Paypal fees from Paypal, and Insertion Fees from eBay. See below.
The sales for the White House, Black Market cocktail dress has ended. It is still available for sale on eBay, but at a higher price. You still have the option to pick it up using Best Offer.
Today, I'd like to feature this beautiful 7th Avenue Design Studio NY & Co Women's Size M Lacy Button Up Blouse. /56/ It's only 18.95 right now.
It's absolutely beautiful. Id # 302945467480, See link at the very bottom.
This elegant, crisp blouse retails for $44.95. It's tapered fit and darts flatter your figure. There is one button on each sleeve, and an extra button, in case you need it.
It is a cotton blend: 60% cotton, 35% polyester, and 5% spandex. Spandex adds comfort, and aids fit and freedom of movement to great clothes. Trims are 64% cotton, and 36% polyester.
For measurements, check it out on eBay for all the info!
The Christmas season is coming up, and this would be a beautiful gift for that someone special. The size is medium.

My eBay tip for today:
eBay charges a final value fee or FVF on COMPLETED SALES. It is not due till the sale takes place. In this case, the item is on sale for 18.95. Let's say there is a best offer (which I don't have right now on this blouse, since it's brand new with tags or NWT), and it sells for that. Your FVF would be charged on the final sale price.
So, item price is $18.95 plus shipping of 3.75. If I ship from Ohio to CA, the shipping price is based on the zip code of the buyer, so it would be around $8.45. I figure all my expenses and profit based on the farthest place away from Ohio. If I sell closer to home, my profit is higher because my shipping cost would be less. I do not sell international yet.
The total price of $18.95 and $8.45 is $27.40. 10% of that is $2.74. When I first started figuring my stats, I did it this way.
Your invoice does not come out until either the 15th or 30th. The total price will be due by the following 15 days. So basically, I still have time to sell until I actually have to pay.
Also note, that after 5 sales, eBay started notifying Paypal to hold my sales transactions. They wait till the item is delivered before releasing my funds. This is fine for me, as I don't transfer my money for now. My invoice fees and shipping I buy for a package are coming out of that. Should my Paypal balance drop too low, my bank account or credit card that I've attached would handle my fees til my balance is up again.
I did notice on my first invoice that eBay figures just a little differently. You should know this, so you aren't surprised. Plus you'd have to figure it out yourself.
They figure 10% of the sale item. In this case 18.95 is $1.90 (you have to round up this number.) Then they also take 10% of your shipping costs. I figure on my farthest away location, CA. That cost is approximately $8.45. 10% of that is $0.85. (round up again)
$1.90 plus $0.85 is $2.75. If you'll look back, I was figuring on total of item and shipping which was only $2.74. Clever, clever ... they get an extra penny!
AGAIN: This is a penny more than when I figured 10% of the total of the item and shipping together, which I did at first.
When verifying my actual costs that I paid to each item, I discovered this clever way a company can make an extra penny on their sales.
It doesn't work for every sale, but for enough sales.
One extra penny on perhaps 15 of my 50 listings is an additional $0.15 in their pocket. Multiply that across all the sellers who have thousands of listings, and you'll easily see what a positive thing this is for eBay.
Eventually, eBay will eliminate Paypal as a processor of sales transactions. They will offer their own, and I'm sure that the fees I pay on my Paypal transactions will switch over to eBay -- again.
And they are getting ready to add their own Authentication Program, and again, more profit for them.
So, if you are just getting your feet wet with selling on eBay, I want you to know what I have learned and benefit from that.
Also, if you have any tips to pass on or comments, just leave them in the comment section.
And because I love doing art, I'll always end my blog post with a piece of art I've done. Enjoy!
